Interview Swaag: Lala's Rock Shop

I know all of us love when we come across something NEW. I know when I come across a new makeup line or accessory line that I LOVE right away, I'm completely drawn in. There is so much talent out here it's crazy.

I love supporting my community and showing light to people doing great things which leads me to introduce you to Lala's Rock Shop. A beautiful collection of handmade jewelry made with different crystals and stones. Below is the interview I had with the owner of Lala's Rock Shop.

Name: Lauren-Ashley Kolkmeyer

Age: 22

Hometown: currently living in Morgantown WV until graduation with my bachelors degree in Child Development and Family Studies in May.

What influenced you to start Lala's Rock Shop ?

I wanted to share happiness, love, and faith with people through things that bring those feeling to me. I just wanted to really help others who have been where I have been and may be struggling or suffering through some type of challenge. 

What are your two favorite pieces you've created and why ?

I love all of my pieces because I love all of the healing properties of each stone. It is hard to pick a favorite, it mostly is based on what healing properties I need that day based on my current challenges.

What would you like to accomplish with Lala's Rock Shop ?

Smiles and happiness! Really!! That is all! I don't care about how many items I sell I just love helping people and making something for them that brings them hope to push through whatever it is they may be facing.

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

After graduation I have plans to move to California or Hawaii. I see myself being a child life specialist helping children and their families through their terminal illnesses. I hope to be married and have children. I want to have my own backyard where I can grow my own fruits and veggies and mediate with my children and husband daily. I still hope to have Lala's rock shop on the side. 

Who or what is your biggest motivation?

Myself. I don't have any family and no one to support or push me. I am my biggest motivation everyday. 

How would you say life was before becoming interested in crystals/stones?

I was very depressed and felt lost in this world. I felt like I didn't belong anywhere and wasn't loved by anyone. I had, had several suicide attempts and did not want to even wake up anymore.

How has it changed since ?

I found something to have faith in. I learned I need to love myself and with that I will be forever loved. I learned to put love in everything I do and the whole world around me has changed. I don't let any negativity touch me because it is toxic. I meditate daily, do yoga daily, and hula hoop daily. I make it a point of mine to do one random act of kindness a day just to make someone smile. I smudge myself and my home as well as my crystals every Sunday with sage and lavender. Sage gets rid of negative energy and lavender brings positive energy in. If I am ever feeling down I smudge and meditate. 

What's the best advice you could give to someone trying to follow their dreams? 

Love yourself like no one else! Don't play it safe! Go big and don't be afraid to make big changes.

Hunger Games Swaag: Tribute Parade

As we all know, the Hunger Games is all you hear about lately. Not only is it a good movie, a great fantasy, but it has tons of fashion inspiration throughout the movie. Especially when they go to the capital of Panem. There are so many ways you can recreate these looks, for costumes, play, or everyday wear. The next few days I'll share a new look with you. This first one is inspired by Katniss Everdeen's outfit for the Tribute Parade.

Throughout a woman’s life she will experience a plethora of ups and downs. When she experiences these given situations she will have to find a way to deal with these emotions in a positive manner to allow herself to feel more accepting of what is happening at that given moment. One way that a woman typically chooses to deal with certain feelings and release what is on her mind is through fashion.

Women tend to look to high fashion to encompass their mood and wear items that make them feel good about themselves. When a woman loses some weight she may want to show it off in something form fitting and gorgeous. When she wants to hide her self-perceived flaws she may choose to do so in a manner that makes her feel better about herself; for example, by using makeup and accessories or wearing a certain color to extenuate other qualities she may feel good about herself with. Whatever a woman is going through, she can use fashion to make her feel confident, beautiful and more empowered with herself.

Weight Watchers PointsPlus Program;

Yes, You read right. Weight Watchers and Jennifer Hudson finally sucked me in. Yesterday I finally broke down and signed up. There's so enrollment fee right now so I was like, why not. I figure I'm paying for it, so my ass better stick to it! I have a good feeling about it though. As soon as you sign up, and get your daily points, all day you're automatically watching your servings and what you eat and making sure you don't go over your points for the day. I don't want to get to far ahead of myself and start recommending people to sign up, but if you're looking for a good weight loss program, this is probably one of the best. I'll update you all on how I'm doing in a couple weeks; wish me luck!

Spring in neutral - C.K. Swaag

I love how quite a few designers took a different direction in their Spring collections this year. When I look at the collections , it still says Spring to me, but in a different way. Calvin Klein was the first to stand out to me out of the collections I took a look through.

I love how the whole collection has a neutral palette. Instead of seeing all the bright colors, pops of yellows, pinks, greens, floral; it was just nice cool neutrals that still says Spring! I'm really loving this collection. It's in a way on the 'simple' side, but it won't go unnoticed at all. All the pieces seem so light and flowy.

Gucci Swaag !

To jump straight to the point, I'm loving Gucci's Fall 2012 Collection. As soon as I looked through, I fell in love. The dark colors, the style, how the clothes fit; and then the models with the deep plum lips. Ahh , it's all love. The suits are just so classy, and the whole line gives off a mysterious vibe. Okay , onto the pictures cause I can't hold it any longer haha.

Chino Swaag

It's getting into Spring, and I know a lot of us are excited. Although I'd rather have cold weather, I do still love Spring, especially since it's where my birthday falls. If I could keep beginning Spring weather or even better, beginning fall weather, I'd be set.

This Spring, there's one article of clothing that I WILL be wearing. Rolled chino pants, colored ones are my favorite! They especially look cute with ankle strap heels or wedges. I'm going to share my set I made on Polyvore .

I just want to post some pictures of what I wore last Thursday. I took the pictures on my web cam because I keep forgetting that my camera is dead! I got two pictures on my camera, and it died, then I also realized the pictures are on my actual camera and not my card smh. I don't know what's goin' on in my head, but I'll put the two missing pictures on tomorrow. Enough rambling, here's what I wore  : )

Hey gorgeous people,

I hope you all made it through Monday without any stress! Today was actually the easiest Monday I've had in a while! So i'm not complaining at all. I slept extra good last night so that was a greaaaat feeling. I hope everyone's weekend was fun and relaxing.

Saturday I woke up , worked out , showered , got dressed , took a nap , and then later I went out to eat with my mom . I'm going to share my outfit with you. I wore two pairs of shoes that day, one when I was just around the house and then I switched them when I left out.

A song that may be familiar is her 'Shark in the Water' song, you've probably heard it on the little MTV commercial things. Diet Swaag & SAG Red Carpet Review !

Another Monday has come back around. Another annoying day at work, but I'm honestly getting use to it! As for my diet, I've been doing pretty good. Although I did have ice cream one day :/ , but it happens *shrugs*. I can honestly say that I can feel a difference though, which is what is important. I have one more week of the Special K Challenge and then just back to eating normal and healthy.

Now, Who watched the SAG Red Carpet ? I watched for a few minutes, and then just caught up on it online today. I'm going to share a few photos of what people were wearing that night. All of which I think looked gorgeous for the most part.

She has got to be the cutest thing ever! She looks adorable in this dress. She's wearing a Collette Dinnigan dress and it looks like she belongs in it! Don't you agree? She looks like a little fairy tale princess. I love it!

Emily Blunt

Green is my favorite color and I love seeing green on someone who just looks so good in the color. When I saw her in this Oscar de la Renta dress, I was just stuck. She looks absolutely amazing. The green looks so good against her skin, and I love the style of the dress. This one who probably have to be my favorite!

Zoe Saldana

Last, but far from least, my girl Zoe. I love her, but I must say, I don't like this dress on her. She was wearing a Riccardo Tisci dress. I like the dress, just not on her. She should of made a better choice I feel like. It happens though. She didn't look awful, I just don't think this was a great choice for her.

I know this look is probably familiar to most of us. As soon as I took a look through Marc Jacobs Fall 2011 Collection, I fell in love with this look. It's such a great look to play off and make your own. Sometimes runway clothes can be over the top and you think, 'that's a little too out there for me'. The fun part of runway fashion, to me at least, is just making everything your own; it's so much inspiration.
