Plus Size DRAMA Swaag

Hey beautiful people,
I hope every one's day is going well and that everyone is enjoying the last few days of 2011! This year flew by so fast. It's crazy. It seems like we were just in the year 2010.

So onto the topic of today. Lets talk about the drama with the plus size community. As we all  know, a size 13 is considered the average size for a woman. A size 13 is also in the plus size category. Plus sizes usually start at a size 12. When you see the words PLUS SIZE, it doesn't automatically mean big, huge, fat, etc. If you're not some how in the plus size category, you wouldn't know that. Many people who are maybe a size 6 & smaller will see a size 13 and be like damn, that's big or that's a fat persons size. The plus size community gets enough criticism from smaller people, you would think they wouldn't  be getting it from each other, right?

It seems that some woman who are in the bigger sizes, like 16 and up look down on the woman who are in the size 12 or 13, saying they couldn't possibly be plus size. They don't go through the same problems, they have more options, they don't even look plus size, and so on. Plus size is not only for the bigger woman, but woman who have curves. You could generally be a size 10, but need a size 12 pants just to fit over your curves. You can also have no curves, but your frame may be wider than others and may have to go a size or two up.

No one is to tell you that you don't belong in the plus size category or that you shouldn't be trying to represent plus size woman. I find that a little crazy myself. Who's to judge anyone else. There are also woman who look down on the ones who were bigger at one point and dropped a few sizes. You can't expect everyone to be happy at the size they are. They may still be happy being plus size, but just not the size that they were and they feel better living a healthier lifestyle if they weren't before. Being plus size doesn't suit everyone. Not every one's body shape is made for it. For woman who are less curvy, being bigger could sometimes look a little awkward. It all depends on your body and how you feel about yourself.

As for me, it's been years since I could actually know what size jeans I wore. If someone was to ask, I'd be like I honestly don't know. I can't just go out and buy a size and be done. I usually have to try all my jeans on to see if they would fit or not. It just all depends. In the last like 3 or 4 years I'd put it in these words "I lost most of what I had". I couldn't tell you what happened, but since whatever happened did happen, and just wanting to be back in a smaller size, I decided I would do the whole diet thing. Which started out well, I lost about 20lbs. Now, I go back and forth with it which isn't good. I need to stay motivated to get where I want to be. One thing I've achieved now, is that I'm under that dreadful number I was at and that I know what size I CAN'T fit anymore and an about size that I can. It's progress I guess you can say.

The point of this post was to say how crazy it is to pass judgement when you already get enough yourself. What's the point in arguing over these little things. No one knows your body like you do so don't let anyone tell you different from what you know about yourself.

That goes to show you that curves make a BIG difference.

So what do you think about this issue ?

  1. I think it's ridiculous for plus size women to judge other plus size women being that we are ALL judged by smaller women. Anything over a size 10 is plus size and some people's frames make them look smaller. Most people would NEVER guess what I weigh b/c my weight is evenly distributed. I am happy with my weight but I do plan to go down a size or 2 and I'll still be plus size but I will feel more comfortable having kids in the future. This hate has to STOP..in the plus size community and plus size women need to stop hating on celebrities that lose weight!! If people want to lose weight let them be HAPPY!!!

  3. Crazy! Im agree with Styles4curves, most people wouldn't believe my weight if I told them. One of my good friends made me go and get on a scale in front of her because she refused to believe what I told her. With that being said, I am happy to say I'm plus size! Every size is beautiful but I LOVE my curves and would never want to be any thing smaller than a 10! Coincidently enough, most people (men) prefer a little curves anyways ;) Anywho, I'm rambling, but the criticism is ridiculous especially from people in the same category.

  4. I agree. It's just such a waste of time you know, but I guess some people don't know much better.
