Plus Size Swaag
One of my favorite posts from Beauty or Swaag was the one titled Plus Size Swaag. Today I wanted to share some tips and tricks I’ve learned to stay on top of my plus size swaag game;

  • Look in the mirror, find the things you love the most about yourself and find clothing to highlight the things you love.
  • Don’t be in denial. If your tummy is a problem area DON’T pick clothes that show it off.
  • Don’t shy away from form fitted clothing. Learn to make them work for you. I find that blazers are a staple b/c they can be worn with anything from jeans to dresses…they camouflage the bad areas, make you appear slimmer, and are versatile b/c they can go from the office to date night.
  • Thrift, Thrift, Thrift.--- Thrifting is a great way to find unique items for a fraction of the cost.
  • Exercise. Even if you are happy plus size exercise will keep you toned up and give you more energy…20 minutes…3 times a week will keep you feeling amazing.
  • Don’t take fashion advice from skinny friends. Not that they don’t mean well but they don’t understand plus size fashion dilemmas and sometimes u have that sneaky friend that will purposely try to make you look foolish.
  • Don’t be that “every facebook profile picture shows all ur cleavage” girl. There is a thin line between sexy and trashy.
  • DO wear heels. Find heels that are comfortable for you (my fave brands are Jessica Simpson and Nine West for comfort) b/c they make you look longer, leaner, and give u a boost of confidence.
  • DO NOT “MAKE” something fit in the store. Either it fits or it doesn’t.
  • Shop online to find the best looking clothing. Malls can be depressing if you are over a size 16. The “plus size” sections of stores are usually filled with drab old people clothes.
  • Do wear the proper size bras…the wrong size bra can make you have the dreaded back roll.
  • Don’t shy away from color or prints. Some plus size women are afraid of standing out b/c weight can already make you stand out but I say I’m already “out of the norm” if people are going to stare I’d rather them stare at my fabulous outfit
  • Keep your circle full of positive and supportive people.
